Paul Lotman had 19 kills and Connor Eaton totaled 38 assists to help the Long Beach State men’s volleyball team to a 30-18, 30-23, 30-25 victory over Stanford in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Friday night at the Walter Pyramid. The 49ers also got 15 digs from Dustin Watten in improving to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the MPSF. The Cardinal fell to 0-10 and 0-5. Stanford was held to an .091 hitting percentage overall, and a mark of minus-.143 in Game 1. Evan Romero led the visitors with 14 kills, while Kawika Shoji totaled 34 assists and seven digs. “The difference from last week to this week was definitely our passing,” 49ers coach Alan Knipe said in a school press release. “We were in offense a lot more and we were much better in all areas of our blocking, defense, and transition game.” Long Beach State was further powered by Norm Hutton’s nine kills, along with seven apiece from Teddy Liles and Dean Bittner.
