Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro vs Gionee S11 Lite: Don’t expect the unexpected, Note 5 Pro wins it

first_imgXiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is already a star. The popularity of the phone is so high that Xiaomi has now increased the price of the Note 5 Pro by Rs 1,000, saying that it is needed to meet the growing demand. The phone was launched in India, not so long ago, at a price of Rs 13,999. But now, after the price hike, the smartphone is selling for Rs 14,999 in both online retail stores as well as the company’s offline stores called Mi Home. Finding it in stock is difficult, though. But there is another phone in the same price range that you will get in stock. And this one is the challenger from Gionee. The company launched the selfie-centric Gionee S11 Lite last month with a price tag of Rs 13,999, which is same as the Redmi Note 5 Pro launch price. The Gionee S11 Lite comes with a 16-megapixel front camera, and sports dual camera set up at the rear, similar to the one in the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Apart from the cameras, the Gionee phone comes with a HD+ FullView display that has an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Redmi Note 5 Pro too sports aspect ratio of 18:9 instead of the traditional 16:9, and comes with a full screen FHD+ display instead. So how the two phones compare with each other? Let’s take a look.1. In terms of display, the Redmi Note 5 Pro sports a bigger screen than the Gionee S11 Lite. The former comes with a 5.99-inch “full-screen” FHD+ display with a 2160x1080p resolution and 403ppi pixel density, while the latter includes a 5.7-inch HD+ FullView display. The S11 Lite comes with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass on top of screen, while the Redmi Note 5 Pro uses 2.5D curved glass on the front. Basically it’s the same thing. But do keep in mind that the Note 5 Pro does give you more real state with larger screen.advertisement2. The Gionee S11 Lite looks premium, while the Redmi Note 5 Pro looks sturdy and compact. The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with sleek full-metal body design, while the Gionee S11 Lite, although offering a premium look, uses a plastic rear panel which has a reflective glassy look to it. Overall, on the design front, the plastic back of the Gionee is a little disappointing at this price point. However, largely due to its plastic back the Gionee S11 Lite is incredibly lighter than the metallic Redmi Note 5 Pro.3. The Gionee S11 Lite is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8937 chipset, while the Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor clubbed with Adreno 509 GPU. We can say that the Redmi Note 5 Pro with a Snapdragon 636 is currently one of the most powerful and power-efficient smartphones available in its price category.4. Both the phones come with dual camera setup at the back. Coming to Gionee first, the S11 Lite uses a primary sensor of 13-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.0 aperture. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 5 Pro sports one 12-megapixel sensor and another 5-megapixel sensor on the rear. The dual cameras on the Redmi Note 5 Pro come with phase detection autofocus and a dual-LED (dual-tone) flash. Both the phones come with rear-mounted fingerprint sensor which are quite fast.5. Gionee claims the S11 Lite is a selfie-centric phone. It comes with a 16-megapixel selfie shooter and includes a range of features like bokeh mode, group selfie and backlight mode, face beauty, panorama and more. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a 20-megapixel front shooter coupled with a LED flash. The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with Face Unlock feature that the S11 Lite doesn’t. 6. The Redmi Note 5 Pro runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box, while the Gionee S11 Lite runs Android 7.1 with the companys Amigo 5.0 on top. It is quite disappointing to see mid-ranged phones not coming with Android Oreo software. And both the phones will leave people looking for stock Android experience disappointed. The Amigo skin on S11 Lite comes pre-loaded with several apps like – UC News, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram among others, along with some games like – bubble bash, danger dash and more. But at least the MIUI in Xiaomi phone is well-optimised and is now tasteful enough from design point of view.7. The Gionee S11 Lite comes with 3,030mAh battery capacity, while the Redmi Note 5 Pro is backed by a bigger 4000mAh battery. None of the phones support fast charging. The Redmi Note 5 Pro delivers a decent battery backup, something we found while reviewing the phone. The actual battery figures for the S11 is something we are still testing out, but expect them to be lower than what the Xiaomi phone manages.advertisement8. The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes in two variants. One with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage and another one with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. On the other hand, the Gionee S11 comes only in one variant, with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage expandable via micro SD card.9. As far as pricing and availability are concerned, the Redmi Note 5 base model with 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage comes with a price tag of Rs 13,999, while the top-end version with 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage is available for buying for Rs 16,999. The Gionee S11 Lite, on the other hand, comes with a price tag of Rs 13,999. Although the price of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is slightly (Rs 1000) higher than the Gionee S11 Lite, but, we can say, one wouldn’t mind spending a little extra in exchange for a better performance, cameras, battery and more.10. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is available from Flipkart and Xiaomi’s own online Mi.com/in store. While, Gionee S11 Lite will be available for buying this month, although the exact date is not yet revealed.last_img read more

Trans Tasman Squad Camp Cancellation

first_imgAgain TFA apologises for any inconvenience caused. The weather in Sydney has been nothing short of atrocious forcing the closure of all our training venues. We have tried all possible alternatives including all weather venues but have had no luck. With most venues in Sydney controlled by local councils, once closed there is little we can do. Therefore the decision, which wasn’t taken lightly, was made this morning to cancel the camp in order to save valuable funds for flights and accommodation to be used at a later date. The training camp for the Trans Tasman Squads will look to be rescheduled after consultation with all coaching staff. We will advise of the new dates as soon as we are able. last_img

He had seven months out in the first year but now I am so satisfied and people can start to look at what he’s done over recent months for this club.”We couldn’t have won the Premier League the way that we did it without him, especially when he plays in three positions.”Outstanding performance from Ilkay today.” About the authorAnsser SadiqShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more

Ailing Serena retires from 3rd round match

first_imgIndian Wells: Serena Williams retired with a viral illness from her third-round WTA match at Indian Wells on Sunday while trailing Garbine Muguruza 6-3, 1-0 in a battle of former world number ones. Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, was seeded 10th as she continues to work her way back up the rankings in the wake of time off to have a baby. She got off to a strong start, winning the first three games of the match, but called for the trainer after losing six straight to the Spaniard. After a long talk with the trainer, Williams took the court for the second set, but called it a day after Muguruza held at love in the opening game. It was a disappointing end to Williams’s second tournament of 2019, after a quarter-final exit at the Australian Open. Williams and Muguruza were meeting for the sixth time. All five of their prior matches came in Grand Slams, the last two in Grand Slam finals with Williams winning at Wimbledon in 2015 and Muguruza walking off with the 2016 French Open crown.last_img read more
