Marketo adds native ABM capabilities to its platform

first_imgMarketo adds native ABM capabilities to its platformYou are here: Posted on 14th September 2016Digital Marketing FacebookshareTwittertweetGoogle+share Marketing platform Marketo is jumping into Account-Based Marketing (ABM) with both feet today, unveiling what it says is the most comprehensive set of native functions on a major marketing platform. The new Marketo ABM allows marketers to target accounts — and decision-makers within those accounts — via personalized messages in emails, web, events, social media, mobile and ads on Google, Facebook and LinkedIn. The San Mateo, California-based company announced back in May that it intended to integrate ABM more tightly into its platform within the next few months. The core capabilities are being complemented by integrated functions offered in a new Marketo ABM ecosystem. Initial members include AdRoll, Bluewolf, Digital Pi, Dun & Bradstreet, Elixiter, EverString, Fathom, InsideView, LeadMD, Owler, Perkuto and PFL.“We’re not claiming we’re providing all of [needed] ABM capabilities,” Vice President of Product Marketing Mike Telem told me, adding that the platform probably offers 90 percent or more of what an ABM marketer might need at the beginning. If the marketer wants data enrichment solutions, for instance, they can add Dun & Bradstreet.Telem noted that, previously, Marketo offered its Web ABM, built on its acquisition in 2013 of Insightera. It was originally intended to be part of Marketo’s real-time web personalization capabilities but became a separate product. Web ABM, he said, was limited to websites, although it offered some ad capabilities and was “the equivalent of [ABM targeting platform] Demandbase.”By contrast, he said, the new ABM native capabilities were built “from the ground up,” and Web ABM has now become its web channel.New functions include targeting and messaging by account, engaging decision makers across channels, and measuring impact by account.Previously, he said, Marketo couldn’t orchestrate a cross-channel campaign for accounts and didn’t have the ability to link a person to an account automatically. That linkage is now made via domain names, IP matching, location and other attributes.Marketo is also treating accounts as an object in its system so an account can be scored as a lead might, based on engagement, profile and other factors. Predictive scoring can be added via integration with an outside provider.Treating an account as an object, he said, is typically in ABM-oriented point solutions but not in Marketo’s major marketing platform competitors. It permits an account dimension, so that attributes and data can be added and exported as an account.Among major competitors, Telem noted that Oracle’s Eloqua offers ABM capabilities largely through an integration with Demandbase, and Salesforce’s Pardot “doesn’t have that much ABM.”“Demandbase plus Eloqua is a decent comparison to what we’re doing,” he said, except Marketo’s is offered natively.I asked Telem why ABM has become such a hot area in recent months. He replied that it was partly because the technology has evolved to the point where ABM can be better managed. But, he added, it’s also because marketers have “gotten good at marketing at scale,” and the analytics are showing that account orientation offers a new level of opportunities. From our sponsors: Marketo adds native ABM capabilities to its platform HomeDigital MarketingMarketo adds native ABM capabilities to its platform Related postsLytics now integrates with Google Marketing Platform to enable customer data-informed campaigns14th December 2019The California Consumer Privacy Act goes live in a few short weeks — Are you ready?14th December 2019ML 2019121313th December 2019Global email benchmark report finds email isn’t dead – it’s essential13th December 20192019 benchmark report: brand vs. non-brand traffic in Google Shopping12th December 2019Keep your LinkedIn advertising strategy focused in 202012th December 2019last_img read more

Sophomore wide receiver Lorenzo Joe, who caught three passes for 36 yards in his first season with the program, was not listed in the top three for either of the team’s wide receiver slots. He took to Twitter right after to express his shock. He then deleted the tweet.Lorenzo Joe Texas WR TwitterJoe was a four-star wide receiver recruit for the class of 2014, so it’s easy to understand his frustration. Ohio State Takes Back No. 1 Recruiting Class Ranking From Alabama After 5-Star Commits

first_imgOhio State's 2017 recruiting class.Ohio StateAlabama’s grasp on the No. 1 recruiting class for 2017 lasted for less than a day. Ohio State retook the top spot in the rankings on Friday night, when five-star offensive lineman Wyatt Davis pledged to the Buckeyes, giving Urban Meyer’s program enough points to surge past the Crimson Tide. Nick Saban’s program had been on top for less than 24 hours after getting a commitment from a Florida long-snapper. Here are 247Sports’ team rankings:Ohio State’s 2017 class is shaping up to be one of Urban Meyer’s best ever (and maybe the best ever). The Buckeyes currently have commitments from 14 players, three of whom are five-stars and 10 of whom are four-stars. There’s still a long way to go with the ’17 recruiting cycle, but it’s tough to imagine OSU not holding on to the No. 1 overall recruiting ranking. You can view the Buckeyes’ full 2017 recruiting class here.last_img read more

Trans Mountain pipeline protesters to gather on Columbia River Monday

first_imgVANCOUVER, WA (NEWS 1130) – By now, we’re used to seeing Trans Mountain pipeline protesters in places like Burnaby Mountain or the Westridge Marine Terminal. On Monday, demonstrators will be congregating at a port on the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington – a place they say pipeline parts are being shipped to, on their way to the contentious project in Canada.“We will have multiple boats on the water. We highlighted on Friday that this vessel was here. We have hung a number of banners around the area to expose this to local media,” says protester Jack Issent. The protesters believe the pipeline parts are being shipped to the US in order to avoid attracting attention, and more protests, in BC.Issent says the pieces are being manufactured in India and put on large tankers. He says the ships carry between 1,700 to 2,000 pipes and that they’ve been coming since January. He contends they are being offloaded on the Columbia where they are then put on trucks to be stored. From there, he says, they are put on trains destined for BC.“We are going to be having voices from different communities up and down the route of this rail – where they load it off the ships and put it on rail.”Issent says people in Washington State are putting pressure on Governor Jay Inslee to stop cooperating with the project.“This government is against this pipeline being built in general, and yet he hasn’t spoken out against the material to build it going through his state. So we’re hoping this will help put some pressure on him.”Issent says there’s growing opposition to the pipeline in the US over fears what a tanker spill would mean for killer whales and waterfront communities.last_img read more

US and Canadian stocks close up in trade tension lull loonie lower

first_imgCanada’s main stock index crept higher Tuesday along with U.S. markets, while the loonie moved lower compared with the U.S. dollar.Markets, especially in the U.S., moved higher after federal reserve Chairman Jerome Powell made comments to congress that were overall positive for equities, said Patrick Bernes, a portfolio manager for CIBC Asset Management.“He characterized the labour markets as pretty strong, he expressed that he’s not overly concerned about financial stability at the moment, and kind of downplayed recent gyrations in the market,” he said.Bernes said Powell did express some concern about trade developments, which could be seen as dovish, but that overall the message seemed to be a continued gradual raising of rates.“I think that the takeaway on that was the fed is staying the course and has no plans to accelerate its tightening path, and that kind of coincided with equities starting to rise throughout the day,” said Bernes. The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index closed up 24.51 points at 16,519.24 in broad gains, led by consumer discretionary and mining stocks.Commodity stocks including gold and energy sectors were also up despite a recent slide in prices for both resources. The August crude contract closed up two cents at US$68.08 per barrel Tuesday, but is down several dollars from where it was trading last week. The slip in crude prices have come as OPEC supplies increase, the Syncrude oilsands plant returns to partial operation, and Libya has managed a boost in production, said Bernes.“That’s what’s been pressuring down oil prices lately, and that’s a headwind for the energy sector.”The S&P/TSX capped gold index managed a 0.75 per cent gain on Tuesday, despite the price of gold sinking one per cent or $12.40 to close at US$1,227.30 an ounce for the August contract. In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average closed up 55.53 points at 25,119.90. The S&P 500 index ended up 11.12 points at 2,809.55 and the Nasdaq composite index closed up 49.40 points at 7,855.12, a record close.Overall, investors are still waiting see how the trade dispute between China and the U.S. that really kicked in on July 6 will play out, said Bernes.“There’s been a bit of a lull, and the market’s in more of a wait-and-see mode.”The Canadian dollar averaged 75.83 cents US, down 0.29 of a US cent. The loonie lost ground to the U.S. dollar despite Statistics Canada data that showed manufacturing sales increased 1.4 per cent to $57.1 billion in May.The improvement came after a 1.1 per cent drop in April, and was higher than the 0.5 per cent boost economists had expected according to those polled by Thomson Reuters Eikon. The August natural gas contract closed down two cents at US$2.74 per mmBTU and the September copper contract was down two cents at US$2.74 a pound.last_img read more
