Salary commensurate withqualifications.RESPONSIBILITIES : The selected candidate will beresponsible for the day-to-day administration of both the GraduateCertificate and MS Degree Programs in Brewing Science andOperations. They will be responsible for marketing of the program,growing and maintaining enrollment, industry relations andnetworking and the annual assessment of the program. The selectedcandidate will also have oversight of the on-campus brewing sciencelaboratory and diagnostic laboratory. Responsibilities will includescheduling of student teaching visits, faculty research visits,maintaining adequate inventory levels to complete the work of allprograms and to operate within a set budget for all operationalneeds. This person will also be responsible for instruction acrossa number of courses. The successful candidate will provideleadership for current and new course development. Graduatecommittee service is expected. The selected candidate is expectedto engage in collaborative research and instruction with colleaguesin the program and throughout the Department of Nutrition,Dietetics and Hospitality Management. Development of professionaland scholarly activities is expected. Involvement in university andcommunity service and the development of industry partnerships isalso expected.SETTING : This interdisciplinary department is affiliatedwith the College of Human Sciences. The department offersbachelors, masters, and doctoral degree programs in hospitalitymanagement that include campus-based programming as well as amaster’s degree distance education option. The HospitalityManagement Program’s undergraduate enrollment is approximately 250students. Program faculty are intent upon doubling this number overthe next 5-7 years across all three-study options including Hoteland Restaurant Management, Event Management and Culinary Science.All programming will be delivered in the Tony and Libba RaneCulinary Science Center, which will be completed in summer of 2022.This 142,000 square-foot education center will house six floors ofstate of the art hospitality teaching classrooms and hands-onlearning laboratories. The center will house a number of foodproduction laboratories, a commercial food production kitchen,student training restaurant (1856 Restaurant), a bakery and coffeeroasting facility, microbrewery, wine and distilled spiritseducation laboratories, spa, roof top garden and event center, andan ultra-luxury training hotel (The Laurel). The center will alsofeature a very interactive food hall encompassing two businessincubation units. Demonstrated knowledgein the area of brewing science as well as strong communication,writing, and research skills; evidence of effective teaching; andan ability to secure external funding through research or industryservice provision. Must be prepared to develop and teach curriculumacross both the Graduate Certificate and MS programs encompassingsuch courses as brewing science, materials, malting, fermentation,microbiology, operations and/or engineering. Commercial brewingexperience will be considered an asset.
