(Photo by Bill Stockland)    SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – The University of West Florida softball team fell to the No. 6-seed Delta State to end the Argonauts run in the 2013 Gulf South Conference Softball Tournament. West Florida ends the season with a 20-35 overall record and finished 12-16 in Gulf South Conference regular-season play. UWF went 2-2 this weekend at the Gulf South Conference Softball Championships.Junior Taylor Bailey (Austin, Texas/University of Louisiana Monroe) started the game strong after retiring five batters with six pitches to start the game. Bailey lasted 6.1 innings in the circle and was charged with the loss after striking out one while walking three.Delta State used 12 hits to score eight runs to defeat the Argonauts 8-1 on Sunday. Danielle Sanders (Leesburg, Fla./St. Petersburg College) and Caroline Kaston (Niceville, Fla./Wallace CC) led the Argonauts offensively on the day. Kaston was perfect on the day at the plate going 4-for-4 while Sanders went 3-for-4 and scored the lone run for the Argonauts on the day.Senior Kasie Buckley (Little Rock, Miss./East Central CC) drove in a run in her final game as an Argonaut. Buckley went 4-for-13 over the weekend and led West Florida in RBIs (4) and scored two runs.Kaston was named to the 2013 GSC All-Tournament Team. The junior went 7-for-15 (.467), scored a run and stole a base to help lead the Argonauts.For information on all UWF athletics, visit   Print Friendly Versioncenter_img Sharelast_img
