‘If Newcastle want £35m, Levy will offer £5m!’ Redknapp on Spurs’ Sissoko chase

first_imgHarry Redknapp is confident Tottenham will complete the signing of Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko and believes shrewd chairman Daniel Levy may have another deadline day surprise up his sleeve.Spurs have made a move for France midfielder Sissoko, who has been keen to leave St James’ Park this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship. The Magpies had valued the 27-year-old at £35million after impressing at Euro 2016, but Tottenham hope to land him for considerably less before Wednesday’s 11pm deadline and have bid just £16m initially.Levy is famed for his last-minute dealings in the transfer window, having signed the likes of Rafael van der Vaart [£8m], Hugo Lloris [£8m] and Dele Alli [£5m] on deadline day in the past. And former manager Redknapp has told talkSPORT he would be surprised if the Spurs chief doesn’t have another stunning move in the pipeline.Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Redknapp said: “Daniel loves the last day of the transfer window, he’ll be busy today and I’ll be surprised if Tottenham don’t do some business.“They’ll be some buy-one-get-one-free kind of deals, it’ll all be going off today.“There’s talk about signing Sissoko from Newcastle, [but] Daniel’s not going to bid anywhere near what someone wants, is he!“If they’re asking for £35m, Daniel will be offering £5m! That’s just the way it is with him, he’s different class.“But he’ll get there in the end. It’ll be a battle between him and Mike Ashley today, two shrewd, clever men, but he’ll get it done in the end, I’m sure.”last_img
